Semitan (Mixed Economy Company for Public Transport in the Nantes Metropolitan Area) is the historical operator of the public transport network in the Nantes metropolis. Established in 1979, it operates the NAOLIB network on behalf of Nantes Métropole, which includes trams, buses, busways, river shuttles, and on-demand transport services. Semitan is also the delegated contracting authority for the development, renovation, and securing of infrastructure, rolling stock, and information systems. Finally, the company coordinates mobility across the metropolitan territory. Its purpose is to offer and guarantee an efficient and sustainable mobility service for everyone throughout the metropolis. With 2,400 employees, the company is firmly committed to the 2026-2031 CSR trajectory structured around 14 axes, including “Building responsible, controlled, and useful digital technology for all”.
